●Art of Business Introduction

There is not so much difference between the business etiquette rules for introducing people in a business setting and the accepted customs of personal introductions in a social setting.Unfortunately, the rules of business introduction are not as straightforward and simple as one might think.Always introducing people by saying their title and full names first in a business setting, and then follow with a brief relevant or interesting piece of information about the people being introduced.

For example: When introducing one of your advertising and marketing managers—Edward Reagan,to a business client—Dr.Albert Miller, you introduce Edward (a subordinate employee) to the senior professional (the client in this case): “Dr.Miller, this is Edward Reagan, our top advertising and marketing executive who will be personally handling your account with us.Edward, this is Dr.Albert Miller. He heads the education department at the Advanced Business Institute.Dr.Miller is interested in new ways to market their education programs to business women.”

If you do not know the person’s title you are introducing or the person has no title,or it would seem too formal for a particular setting, you can offer their name first, but still give the information about what they do: “This is Laura Johnson. She heads up the new software development team at ABCDE,Inc.”
